 My favorite cricketer is Dasun Shanaka. He is a well known cricketer. He was born on September 9th 1991 in Negombo. Shanaka is famous for his all - round abilities in cricket , as he can both batting and bowling effectively. Dasun shanaka started his cricket career by playing domestic matches and showed his talent. He made his international debut in 2015 and has since become an important player in the Sri Lanka team. One of the most remakable achievement in shanaka's career was becoming the captain of the Sri Lanka T 20 team. Under his leadership , the team showed great improvement and unity. A memorable moment came when Sri Lanka won the 2022 Asia Cup. In conclusion , Dasun shanaka is not only a talented cricketer but also a great leader. His contributions to Sri Lankan cricket have been significant, and he continues to inspire young players. Shanaka's journey teaches us that with hard work, determination and confidence. We can achieve our dreams.

Sri lanka is a small island 425Km long 225Km wide. But it has gained a name like any other big country in the world due to many reasons. It is situated to the south of India, this fair island had been known by the world community as "The pearl of the indian ocean". Plenty of sunny beaches, rivers, starting from the hill country , silver - ribbon like waterfalls and many varieties of greeneries enrich our natural beauty. Of all these , it is the works of fine art done by our forefathers, place sri lanka high among other countries of the world. Ancient cities like Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa are kingdoms of good old days. Trees are an integral part of our environment. Both man and the animals cannot survive without trees. Trees are needed to create a habitable environment. We get food, medicine , timber and shelter from trees. Trees help to protect the natural beauty of forests with a vast variety of plant and animals. We know that plants existed on earth before  human beings. This fact proves that trees do not need man for their existence. But man cannot exist without trees. Trees produce Oxygen which is essential for life. Trees purify the air by taking in carbondioxide and giving out oxygen. The government has set up a separate department called " Forest conservation department " in order to protect our jungle resources. The forest conservation department implement several programmes. The importance of trees to mankind cannot be live.

 Every one have a dream of their life. Some one can win and someone can't archive this dream. I think i can get the achievement for selecting the university.  In my childhood i always try to do some best. Because of that reasons teachers and also my parents treat me very well. My mother and father always says try to do some one it's do the best way. I can selected the university for get to the good A/L result. I surprised i won the exam well. On the other hand i think i can get this opportunity because of my courage. I think archive this part of my life. It is very valuable gift for my parents because they are try to do the best way for me. After the start the university i think always try to do my education very well. I know i want to work hard for success my dream. I try to work for my dream every time.

 Physical fitness refers to being healthy in body . Being physically fit gives us the ability to engage in daily activities and sports without being unduly tired. Together with nutrition , rest and relatation, physical exercises also play major role in determining the level of a persons physical fitness. There are many ways that exercises help us to be healthy. When we exercise we burn calories and when we burn calories regularly. We do not become over weight . Exercising is very useful in maintaining a healthy weight. It also helps to improve heart and lung health besides increasing our energy levels.  In modern society , addiction to television , smart phones and computer tends to keep people away from physical activities. This is very harmful to our health. It can be an enjoyable activity such as hiking , swimming ,  cycling or dancing.

The colombo international book fair is highly regarded as the biggest book fair of the entire South Asian region. It is organized by the Sri Lanka book publishers association. This year it was held at the BMICH Colombo for the 27th consecutive year from September 15 - 24 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. The exhibition which has over 400 local and foreign book stalls, is attended by large crowds every day. This has been a very popular event in Sri Lanka. Where adults and children duy novels non fiction books, textbook and even exercise books. All popular booksellers have stalls, at the exhibition . As there is a wide selection and good discounts. Social events discussions , food stalls entertainment and meeting authoress are added attractions.

 Some professions are held in high esteem by society. The medical profession is considered to be one of the noblest and respected professions in the world. Doctors are essential for any society. They are considered to be life saviours. In our routine life , we often encounter health issues that are beyond our comprehesion. We require help from a doctor to understand the problem and also to get it cured. The condition may get worse without medical intervention. A doctor dedicates his life to the service of the patients. He or she relieves the sufferings and pain of mankind . He cures them from disease and illness. This is due to the humanitarian service performed by them in society. Even the government provides many facilities to doctors. When we are sick, through desperation we rush and prefer to consult a doctor.

 Sigiriya consists of an ancient citadel built by king kashyapa during the 5th century. The sigiriya site contains the ruins of an upper palace located on the flat top of the rock. A middle level terrace that includes the lion gate and the mirror wall with its frescoes. The frescoes are world famous too. King kashyapa had reverted his fortress to an ecological wonder by having royal pleasure gardens, water garden , fountain gardens and boulder  gardens made inside the inner city as well as at the palace. Premises on the rock summit. The garden of the sigiriya city one of the most important aspects of the site. Sigiriya today is a unesco listed word heritage site. It is on of the best preserved examples of ancient urban planning. Today sigiriya is a major tourist attraction with holiday resorts around it.

 Sri lanka consists of a multi - national community. Each community has a place for children when celebrating festivals , parents expose children to the traditions of their culture. This new year is celebrated both by the Sinhalese and Tamils in April. During the festival , children are given an important place. Parents expose their children to the traditions of the new year and make them observe them. Parents buy gifts and clothes for their children and children of their relatives. A swing is put up in villages. Onchillawaram, folksongs are sung. Olinda keliya , pancha keliya , Eluwan kema , Pillow fighting ,Climbing the greased pole are some of the new year festival games. These games are organized on a grand scale and is telecast island - wide in all the TV channels. This is how children enjoy the new year in unity and harmony with their fellow brothers and sisters in their villages.

 All living beings need water. Humans, animals and plants cannot exist without water. Earth is the only planet which has water and air. So without water there wouldn't be life on earth. The earth consists of 71% of water and only 0.01% of drinking water. Today water is scarce due to the human activities of man. Water is useful to us in many ways. We use water for drinking , domestic use , for agriculture , for industries and factories , to produce hydro - electricity , to make medicines , for building constructions and much more. Water beautifies the earth and provides entertainment too. The deep blue sea, river , lakes, waterfalls are pleasing to the eye. People and children enjoy bathing and swimming in them. It's relaxing , fun and enjoyable. Many water sports like swimming , water polo , surfing , diving and water skiing are some of the entertainment. All of us should get together to conserve water for us and for the existence of life in the future.

  International Children's day is recognized on various days in many places around the world to nonour Children globally. It was first proclaimed by the world conference for the well - being of children and then established in 1954. Childrens day celebration is very necessary in order to make people aware about the real Status of Children, to improve their status, to make their future bright because they are the future of the country. The celebration of children's day teaches us several important values. It is a call to protect our little Ones from all harm and to save them from the negative impact of modernisation, urbansation and gross materialism. Children are leaders of tomorrow so they need to get respect, Special care and protection from their par ents , teachers and member of the family. They are the valuable asset of the nation as well as future and hope to tomorrow.

Chundikkulam national park is a famous bird sanctuary which is located at the south eastern tip of the jaffna peninsula bordering the sea and lagoon fronts of Elephant pass. The park is a tranquil environment and enchanted with plenty of seasonal birds flocking together during the year. Chundikkulam lagoon is partly surrounded by mangrove swamps and sea grass beds. The effects of the vast ocean and the rippling winds have carved sand dunes. During the migratory season , spanning from November to February , these dunes and the skies above become the major sites of activity for large flocks of birds , such as terns and gulls , flamingos , kites and sea eagles. Birds all flock to collect the small fish lying on the shore from nets cast by fishermen which presents an ideal setting to capture their acrobatic movements. Mammals found in the park include leopard , sloth bear and deer. Mugger crocodile and saltwater crocodile have also been in the park.

  Travelling means going from one place to other places. Traveling can improve your understanding of the world and give you wonderful experience. We travel to get our things done. Traveling gives us immense pleasure , relaxation , breaks the monotony of life and brings a change to our lives. Secondly , Travelling will provide you with interesting information , help you to understand better culture, characteristics of foreign people and make the world outside familiar and clearer. Visiting different countries does not only broaden your mind but also teaches you how to cope with different situation. The education of a student remains incomplete without traveling. It gives student a practical insight to what he learns. Reading of books only provides student with half knowledge.   It was hectic day. I took part in the traditional dancing programe. I came home dead tired, fell on my bed and was soon fast asleep.     Suddenly i opened my eyes, and i was floating down a river. I was still on my bed which had suddenly turned in to a boat. I was confused. How did my bed get to the river? was there a flood or a sunami? I was floating through a jungle and the surroundings began to change drastically. At once the mist cleared and i could see clearly my bed floating fast.....oh no!!! Good heaves...! It was disaster ! The river was leading to a waterfall ! There was no time to think. I was floating over the waterfall and up in the air....The bed fell down the deep waterfall with a loud splash. Help ! Help ! ....I shouted helplessly. Then i heard a familiar voice , " Duwa , what are you doing under the bed?" It was my mother. I quickly sat up and realized when i fell off the bed. So it was dream.

  Today all of us are involved in some sort of work. If may be school work, home work , projects , making a book or magazine making a speech , organizing a trip, or holding a meeting , so to be successful in your work,  You have to plan the work and work according to the plan. If we don't have a plan when doing our work, then there would be short comings, wastage of time , unnecessary expenses, clashes with other People's work. Then it is obvious that we should work out a plan. It is always better to get the opinions of others when doing something. The best way would be to sit  together at a meeting and discuss what has to be done, how it can be done and who will do it. A well organized function becomes successful when it is planned out well and worked to a plan with the cooperation of all. So let us all remember that planning will ensure good results.

  Since the beginning of time technology, has helped us out as a human race.Technology has been a great factor on the way our civilization has grown.  Computers make life easier for people everyday. They help us to do tasks quicker and communicate with friends and family with a click. Computers play a significant role in the school system as well. They help students to learn more efficiently and help them do their work. Computers offer the internet which helps students research information for projects they may have. Fur they, Computers also benefit the development of fundamental skills. Good educational software enables childre to practice and develop a broad range of skills. The computer is also a mode of entertainment. Watching movies , playing video , games , downloading music and staying  updated on social media is an integral part of student's lives .

  The news reader is a person who reads the news and any other document. He also presents and comperes programmes. Most often he brings us the news live, from where the incident take place. It could be a land slide, murder, bomb blast floods, elections, Independence day Celebration or any "Braking News" item. A news reader has to edit what he reads and present it to us in a realistic manner. A News reader is smart, fluent, well updated of issues nationally and internationally He moves with politicians and famons people. So naturally he is in the limelight and becoms popular with the people. There are many good news readers in our society. we always impressed them because their friend like us. Most ofter they have a very lovable approach which is dragging a large audience. Hence a good news reader is produced through a TV Station and adding the capabilities and talents of the individual, a news reader becomes a popular figure in a country.

  Animal world is diverse.Their life style determines the habitat and vice versa.Some build their own houses while others use houses that do not belong to them.There are also ones who are born with their own houses. Camel , "The ship of the desert" has a hump to store food and water as its habitat, usually is dry land. Similarly penguins which are aquatic , flightless birds use the shape of their body to dive in to the water to find food and be safe from any predators. Some work from dawn to dusk to build their houses while other may just intrude. As we have heard, the cuckoo is one such parasitic bird which lays its eggs in the crows.Nest to get their nestlings fed by crow parents.

  Our family members and our school friends  wanted to really great break from the pressure of works. So we organized a seaside holiday to 'Trincomalee'. We went by boat to our holiday destination the pigeon island. What a paradise it was! We were welcome by the chirping of hundreds of rock pigeons that inhabit the island.    The beach was lovely and the water was transparent and inviting. We bathed, splashed, swam and had great fun in the sea. A grand lunch was helicoptered to us by the hotel.We all enjoyed the variety of sea food with prawns , lobsters , cuttle fish , crabs to name a few.  After lunch we all got in to our diving gear and with the guide we dived in to sea. Under the sea it was another breathe taking coral garden paradise.There were many varieties of fish .The time we spent at pigeon island was so unforgettable.

  Even a machine cannot run continuously for a long time, It need a break. Some service or repairs to put it back in to its condition. From my childhoot i leart how people spend their leisure in many different ways. I spend my leisure. I spend my leisure with gardening. It is very useful hobby.It has many advantages. we must have enough space in our garden to engage in this hobby. I have planted various kinds of fruits and vegetable and flowers too. Some of fruits are banana , mango , wood apple , pine apple and vegetables are beans , tomatoes , ladies fingers and long beans. I spend about two hours in my garden. I wated and manure my vegetable beds. I pull out weeds. My family member can eat fresh fruits and vegetable because of my hobby. I find all the characteristics of good hobby in the gardening process.
